This antique country burr elm side table is a wonderfully characterful Georgian piece, made principally from figured burr elm with a lovely light colour, attractive grain and a warm country house feel. The top, frieze drawer and turned supports give it just the right balance of simple practicality and period charm.

It is the sort of antique table that works beautifully in a lived-in home. Its compact proportions make it ideal as a hallway table, lamp table, side table beside a chair, or occasional table in a sitting room, snug, landing or bedroom. The lighter burr elm tone gives it a softer look than darker mahogany furniture, making it especially easy to place within farmhouse interiors, cottage interiors and relaxed country interiors.

The single frieze drawer runs smoothly and offers useful everyday storage for keys, letters, chargers, notebooks or smaller household pieces. The turned supports add elegant Georgian character without making the table feel heavy, while the figured burr elm brings natural movement, warmth and individuality to the surface.

Restored and ready to use, with minor signs of age and wear in keeping with its age. The back of the top is slightly lifted due to age, but it remains structurally sound and presents as part of the table’s honest antique character.
