A handsome small Georgian mahogany chest of drawers dating to circa 1800, with attractive flame figuring, a classic straight-fronted design and well-balanced proportions. Arranged as two short drawers above two full-width drawers, it offers useful storage without the imposing scale of a larger antique chest.

Its compact size makes it particularly easy to place within the home. It would work beautifully in a bedroom, guest room or dressing room, while its elegant Georgian character would also suit a hallway, landing or traditional sitting room. The warm mahogany colour sits naturally alongside country furniture, painted pieces and both classic and more relaxed cottage interiors.

The four drawers provide practical storage for clothing, linens or household essentials. Bracket feet give the chest a grounded Georgian silhouette, while the figured mahogany brings depth and visual interest to the drawer fronts. Decorative brass ring pulls were added later in the chest’s life, with the pulls on the lower two drawers differing slightly from those above. This variation is part of the piece’s history and gives it an individual, collected appearance.

Professionally restored and ready to use, the drawers operate well and the chest presents attractively. There are minor signs of age and wear in keeping with an antique piece of this period, including gentle variations to the surface and fittings. These have been retained where appropriate rather than removing the character that makes antique furniture so appealing.
