This large Victorian mahogany country chest of drawers is a striking mid 19th century storage piece, dating to around the 1850s. It has a classic two over three drawer layout, a lovely sun-faded mahogany colour, ebonised wooden knobs, turned feet and a clean, understated look that makes it very easy to place.

The design has that lovely balance of age, character and practicality. It feels substantial without being overly decorative, making it a brilliant choice for a bedroom, guest room, hallway, landing or traditional country interior. The lighter mahogany tone also helps it sit comfortably in cottage interiors, farmhouse interiors and relaxed country homes.

The two smaller top drawers are ideal for everyday items, while the three long drawers below offer generous storage for clothing, linen or household pieces. The long secret drawer adds a great period detail and gives the chest extra interest beyond its practical use.

The ebonised wooden knobs create a strong contrast against the mahogany, giving the chest a slightly more striking look while still keeping the overall design simple and timeless. The turned feet lift the piece nicely and add classic Victorian character.

Restored and ready to use, with smooth sliding drawers and minor signs of age and wear in keeping with its age. One knob is different, which has been noted honestly and sits naturally with the character of the piece.
